He Walks with Me

As a child and even now as an adult one Bible story that always captivated me was the story of Enoch. He does not get much attention in the Bible but what is said about him is profound. Here is what is said "21 Enoch lived sixty-five years, and begot Methuselah. 22 After he begot Methuselah, Enoch walked with God three hundred years, and had sons and daughters. 23 So all the days of Enoch were three hundred and sixty-five years. 24 And Enoch walked with God; and he was not, for God took him. (Genesis 5:21-24)Yes it is amazing that he lived for as long as he did. But what always captivated me was that he never died. God took him, Enoch did not know the pain of death, he was never found because God took his whole body. For 300 hundred years Enoch walked with God and built a friendship that the creator of the world enjoyed so much that He spared Enoch the pain of death. One reason I think that this relationship was so successful was because Enoch walk with God in humility. 300 years wow! The talks they must have had and the loved that must have been shared between them. When was the last time you walked with God along life’s narrow ways? When was the last time you had humility before Him.

I Have A Plan

Are there times you just feel lost, unaware of what is really going on around you? I am not saying that you do not pay attention or you have floated off into la la land (although I do at times, ask my wife), what I am asking is are there times when you are not sure about what the next step is going to be for you. I know that there are times when I am not sure to what is next on the list. I find it to be much like when I was a child; my mother would always have something for me and my sister to work on some kid of chore. There were many times when she would only give us one task at a time, usually on Saturdays when we really wanted to be doing other things. The bad thing about this for us a children was that we never knew what was next for us to do or if we were close to being finished with our chores for the day. We would always have to go back to her and ask; what else do you have for us mom? Then she would either give us another task or let us go do the things we wanted to for the day. Although my sister and I could not see what my mother had in store for us in the work we were doing, my mother did know and she had a plan for us. I find this to be the same with us and God. We look to God for our guidance and we stand before Him as His children and we stand before Him wondering what He has next for us. Sometimes we wait patiently and others times we are much like my sister and I were standing before my mother anxiously waiting for mothers next plan for us. Why were we anxiously waiting? Because we knew that soon there would be play time. is it not wonderful to know that God has such a big plan for us? The bible says " He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ" (Philippians 1:6)I think that we should be how my sister and I were, anxiously waiting on my mother’s next plan. Are you anxious about God's plan for you? You should be because it will be more than you could have ever imagined.

Knock, Knock anyone there

There are many times in life that things are swirling around us so fast or the peruse has become so great that we begin to feel alone and secluded for everyone and everything. For some this is a very true statement for daily life, for others it happens only every now and then, but we all fall prey to this dark feeling at one time or another. The bad thing about this dark trap is that most of the time we never even see it coming for us and we certainly do not see the snare that is about to entangle and take a painful hold of us. These are dark tactics that Satan uses on us mostly in our time of hurt or need. For what better time to attack then in a time of hurt or need. We are at our weakest in these times and if Satan can draw us away from the rest of the fold then he can begin his dark work of lies. "8Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour". (1Peter 5:8) We have to always be watchful and especially in times of hurt and need. Often we start to question whether God is there or if He is listening to us, when cry for Him. Satan would have us believe God is not there. But that is not true "I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” (Matthew 28:20) In your dark times when you feel alone and abandoned and it seems that everyone has left your side (I say seems because most of the time it is the poison that Satan has feed us that gives us this delusion.) Know that God is there with you in your pain and is most assuredly watching over you. I am not saying that it will make things better and the sun is going to shine and the birds are going to sing. The truth is that there are going to be some dark times, but is it not wonderful to know that we do not walk them alone, because God is always with us. Ever watching, ever knowing and never blinking God does not miss a second of our lives. Spend today knowing that God is with you. Take a moment today to thank God for always being with you.

Days Go By

Well, my vacation time is over with and today it is back to work and the beginning of this year's routine. As I set out for my first day back at work and step back into my routine I begin to realize that having a daily routine gives me a sense of purpose and structure. I guess, that is what a routine is all about. Oh sure I have made some new year’s resolutions, as I think most have. With come up with the important things like, this year I am going to lose that twenty pounds I have been meaning to shed, or some might say I am going to be a nicer person to others this year. These are admirable goals to set and goals are good to have, but so is a good routine and it is my bet that without a routine you are not going to be able to accomplish any of your goals. You already have a busy tight schedule, right? I encourage you that this year you add something to your routine. I encourage you to add a daily time with your Creator. He longs to spend a little time with you and He is waiting to be part of your routine. My guess would also be that if you would take just a little time and add the Word of God to your routine, that the loss of weight, kicking that habit you have been wanting to for a while and living a more successful life; will fall into place just like they should. Make an effort to include Him. You may think how do I do such a thing, I do not where to start in the Bible or I do not know about just spending time with God? Well, I have a few suggestions. Go out and get a daily devotional, there are so many out there to choose from that it should be easy to find one that sparks your interest. Read it daily and try to apply it to your daily life and speak to God just as you would a good friend; ask Him to help you understand what He has for you. Usually in the daily devotionals there is a passage of scripture already in the devotional or they have a passage for you to read in your Bible. There are many ways to spend time with the Creator. It does not have to be first thing in the morning, because maybe your mornings are already full with all the hustle and bustle. Maybe lunch time or a break you get would be better. Maybe the best time for you is in the evenings before bed. Whatever time it is for you add Him to the routine and I promise it will be a successful routine. Will it always be easy? Nope, but it will be rewarding.
